Back In Business

Due to my many absences from meetings during early 2015 I suspended  the blog but as from today we are back in business.

I must look at something in retrospect though because at the September meeting the Rochdale branch celebrated its 20th anniversary.
After the AGM  we began the birthday celebrations.

Members had been asked to bring along an example of their work over the years and what an exhibition that made!!

Our chairman, Hilary Small also unveiled our new collaborative piece which was made at her suggestion. Members were used to select from different embroidery techniques and to work a 5in by 5in sample of that technique, mainly in red.
At first it was hoped to have 20 different samples, one for each year but more than twenty members participated.
Jan Mellor  devised the method of joining the pieces and this is the wonderful finished result.

After the meeting some volunteer members acted as waitresses to serve the others with afternoon tea. The caterers were Park Farm from near Ramsbottom and the food was plentiful and utterly delicious. We used their bone china and that made the atmosphere very genteel

Finally a birthday cake was cut by one of the longer standing members, Audrey Diggines.

Helen  Jackson proposed a vote of thanks.

An afternoon to remember!!!
